This 640 by 480 pixel JPG animation will take a while to download as it has 14.7 Mbytes of bulk to it, even though Intel Indeo(R) Video R3.2 compression was used. Minimize this window, go away and come back later. You will be glad you did!
This animation models an intermediate run that first heads
southwest, then drops more to the south beside the wetlands
shown in the Final Environmental Impact Statement,
Alternative D, page 2-12. With happy
disregard for the powers that be, I ski past the
cutback to the proposed new Montana lift, and then
out-of-bounds to where I think the lift terminal
should go.
Notice that this site incorporates a natural slow skiing
zone and avoids potential safety concerns.
The animation was made using VistaPro 4.0 and USGS Digital Elevation Model data for the Lookout 7.5 minute quadrangle. The trees are individual fractal equations, so I have reduced their number so that individual frames take less than an hour to render. Therefore, expect to see more trees on the mountains across the way when you ski here next season (2003/04). The river is a mathematical function that flows downhill regardless of the weather, but don't expect to see much of it when you are skiing here for real.

In an alternative accounting, Google Analytics recorded 180,385 html page requests in 2011. It says that 147,927 of these page views were unique and represent 103,105 visits made by 83,842 people. This number of visits is comparable to my homegrown benchmark calculation. Google Analytics also says that 80% of these 103,105 visits were new. This implies that about 20,600 visits were made by those of you who looked at pages in this domain more than once in 2011. THANK YOU. This show of interest in a town with a population of 784 is very gratifying.
